I had the pleasure of working with Rachel on a Financial Literacy program for students from disadvantaged communities. Rachel was recommended through a colleague and she proved to be an excellent Project Manager. Rachel exceeded our expectations - producing excellent collateral and organising a very successful launch event, all of which came in under budget. Rachel has helped shape The Joan’s visual identity over the past six months, with the end result being a strong, cohesive visual brand that we’ve been able to roll out across multiple platforms. She’s been super-easy to work with, able to turn projects around at short notice, and has always maintained a focussed, clear-headed approach when we’ve had to work around multiple levels of approval and creative detail from numerous third parties. Rachel is able to interpret a creative brief and bring a complex project to a straightforward, practical and easily resolved outcome. She’s a good communicator with a keen eye for detail both in design and copy. Beyond all that, she’s a great team member with plenty of enthusiasm and initiative.
Rachel is that rare designer that does three things extremely well. She meets the brief, every time, on time, under budget. She then tells you why the brief was pretty rubbish in the first place and shows you an even better solution to your problem. And finally, she throws in something left field that you wished you had thought of in the first place. Rachel is the living proof that ‘creativity’ is possibly the only sustainable competitive advantage in the workplace, and what’s more, she has a passion for sharing that creativity to all those around her.
Whenever I need a freelance designer Rachel is my first choice. I’ve had the pleasure of working with her, off and on, over a period of four years. We have worked on a range of materials ranging from brand IDs, large complex reports and corporate communication materials through to merchandise and even a video. Rachel never fails to deliver. Rachel’s clear vision, close attention to detail and strong understanding of a number of different audience needs resulted in some great creative material being produced during the time we worked together. I had the pleasure of working with Rachel in our time together at Flight Centre. Rachel was our Design Leader and played an integral role in the rebranding of our two flagship corporate travel brands - FCm Travel Solutions and Corporate Traveller. As a Senior Creative for Williams Lea, when delivering pitch documents to major financial and automotive brands that required pulling 30hr straight shifts, I knew that as long as I had Rachel on the team - we would deliver. While I was at CMW we had WeightWatchers as a client. As soon as Rachel started working on the account, it was injected with a giant shot of creativity. She was full of concepts and brilliant on shoots, a real ball of energy who got the models (WeightWatcher’s success stories) to relax and enjoy themselves. The design of the marketing collateral was overhauled so it looked slick, modern and confident, plus she sold the work into the client, who, needless to say, was delighted. Rachel would be a great hire in any agency. Oh, and should you need entertainment at a party she’s got an awesome voice and is pretty damn hot on the guitar too.
Rachel was working in the studio at Colenso when I started as Studio Manager. Rachel was a pleasure to work with, and a well respected member of the team. Since our time at Colenso, our paths have crossed many times. Now an accomplished designer, Rachel has the advantage of a production background which ensures her jobs will print correctly as well as look great.
